<I Feel Pretty>, a thought about self-esteem,
The movie, <I feel pretty>
A few days ago, I saw a movie called <I feel Pretty>(2018) in the theater. It was a movie that made me think about my main concern, self-esteem. The heroine of the movie was an ordinary woman close to fat and ugly. Her self-esteem was not that high. The beautiful and slender women on the street were the subjects of her longing, and her desire was to be as beautiful as anything else. One day, in order to make her beautiful, She started spinning, but the tool was broken during the spinning, and she was struck and hit her head. But what happened? Her appearance has not changed, but she sees herself as beautiful as anything in her eyes. Then her self-esteem seems to be poking into the sky and her speech and behavior are also wonderful, humorous and confident. In the meantime, She makes boyfriend and she turns into a very attractive woman to win a prize in her workplace. However, one day, her head hit on a transparent glass wall and returned to her original self again. Then she feel too shabby when she look at her appearance, avoiding her boyfriend and avoiding her job. What happened to the result? She originally came back to her, but she has the last courage. And in front of a lot of people, she compares her picture of high self-esteem with one of old self-esteem, and she realizes the incredible fact. When she looked at her beautifully and confidently by putting something in her eyes, her appearance had not changed. Thing to change was herself. It was her own change. It was not a change of appearance. Meanwhile, the movie ends with shoutings by the heroine who is spinning hard and the trainer trying to make the mood up. "Whether spiritual or physical or emotional. Miracle happens. "
What changes did the miracle take place? Because it's not a change in her appearance, it's not a physical change. It's not an emotional change because she does not look so good because she's feeling up. I guess it's a spiritual change that the movie wants to say.
The rise of self-esteem is possible through spiritual change
Self-esteem is neither a matter of emotion nor a problem of reason. It is not just a problem that the body has changed. Some people read psychology books and self - help books but they do not solve the problem of self-esteem. I think the problem of self - esteem is a spiritual problem. I think that the confidence in myself that comes from trusting in God changes our self-esteem.
I experienced this personally. As I graduated from college and suffered from disappointment, my self-esteem was low. I still remember how much I felt about my self-confidence and self-esteem by accepting Christian faith and believing in God. At that time, I had experience of putting something in my eyes like the protagonist of this movie. One day I prayed hard and I looked up and I saw myself and the people around me and the environment as beautiful. I myself and the people around me were not all good-looking entertainers in top-notch clothes. It was just ordinary people, but They looked so beautiful. Like an angel.
However, when I experienced the bending of life, there were times when trust in God and trust in me hit bottom and got better again. So, to express my life again, I would like to express it as the history of repetition of the rise and fall of self-esteem.
In conclusion, self-esteem rises when I believe that "I am a spiritual being. I am a child of God. God loves me so much as He sacrifices his only begotten Son to save me. I feel that my self-esteem rises miraculously when I feel that I relate to God and I can find God. Even if our appearance, environment, world has not changed.
I would like to cry out to those who are following the psychology books today, analyzing themselves, looking for comfort, and looking for change. "Meet God"
